Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Daidai Labs collects when you visit this site or talk to us about a dataset, how we handle it, and how consent and rights work for the people who appear in the footage we license.
1. Who we are
Daidai Labs licenses egocentric video of everyday physical tasks to companies training robotics and physical AI models. We commission the footage, verify it against a capture specification, and clear the rights before delivery.
For the personal data described in this policy we act as the data controller: we decide why it is collected and how it is used.
Daidai Labs, Inc.
Delaware, United States
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to this website and to our business relationships: enquiries, scoping calls, sample requests, contracts, and support. In practice that means the people it is about are prospective and current clients, their teams, and visitors to this site.
It also explains, in section 7, how we treat the people who appear in the footage we supply. Those participants are recruited, briefed, and consented through our capture programme, and they receive a separate participant notice at the point of signup that governs their data in detail. This policy summarises that arrangement so buyers can see the chain of custody they are licensing.
This policy does not cover third-party sites we link to, or how a client uses a dataset once it has been delivered under licence.
3. Information we collect
What you send us. When you request a dataset, email us, or meet us, we collect what you choose to give:
- Name, work email address, company, and role
- The contents of your enquiry: the tasks, environments, formats, and volumes you are after
- Correspondence and notes from calls and meetings
- Contract and billing details where we go on to work together
Technical data from this site. Our hosting and security infrastructure logs standard request data: IP address, user agent, referring page, pages viewed, and timestamps. We use it to serve the site, keep it available, and defend it against abuse.
Sample footage you view. Sample clips and evaluation datasets are shared under a written agreement. We record which samples were shared with whom, and when, so that access can be audited and withdrawn.
What we do not collect:
- We do not buy contact lists or scrape personal data to build them
- We do not run advertising trackers or cross-site profiling on this site
- We do not ask you for special-category data, and you should not send it to us
4. How we use it
- To answer you. Responding to enquiries, scoping a capture specification, sending samples, and arranging calls
- To run the engagement. Negotiating and performing contracts, delivering datasets, invoicing, and support
- To keep records. Maintaining the licensing and consent records that let us prove a dataset is cleared for the use you bought it for
- To improve. Understanding which parts of the offer land, and where the site is unclear
- To protect. Preventing fraud, abuse, and unauthorised access, and enforcing our agreements
- To comply. Meeting tax, accounting, export-control, and other legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it to train models. The footage we license is a separate matter, governed by the consent described in section 7.
5. Legal bases
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following bases.
Responding to your request, negotiating terms, and delivering datasets
Running and securing the site, keeping business records, and reaching relevant companies about our serviceWe balance these against your interests and you can object at any time
Optional analytics, and marketing email where consent is requiredWithdrawable at any time, without affecting what came before
Tax, accounting, and compliance record-keeping
6. How we share it
We share personal data only where there is a reason to, and only with parties bound to protect it.
- Service providers. Hosting, storage, email, CRM, video delivery, analytics, accounting, and e-signature, acting on our instructions under a written processing agreement
- Professional advisers. Lawyers, auditors, and insurers, under duties of confidence
- Legal reasons. Where we are required by law, or where disclosure is necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you if that changes how your data is handled
- With your instruction. Anywhere else you ask us to send it
We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
7. People in the footage
Every clip we license shows a real person doing a real task in a real place. That footage is personal data to them, and the value of the dataset depends on it having been collected properly. Our capture programme is built around four commitments.
- Informed consent, per session. Participants are told what is being filmed, what it will be used for (training physical AI models), and who it may be licensed to, and they agree before a session starts
- Provenance on every clip. Each file carries the consent record, capture date, location granularity, device, and specification it was filmed against
- Bystanders and minors. Sessions are scoped to the participant's own hands and task. Footage capturing an identifiable third party who has not consented is rejected at review, and we do not commission capture involving children
- Withdrawal is real. Participants can withdraw a session. Withdrawn footage is pulled from the catalogue, and licensees are notified under the terms of their agreement
Personal data collected from participants (identity and payment details, the consent record, and the footage itself) is handled under the participant notice they receive at signup, and is not the subject of this policy. If you are a participant and want to exercise a right, write to us at the address in section 15 and we will route it.
Clients receive footage together with its rights record. Clients do not receive participants' contact or payment details.
8. International transfers
Our contributors and clients are located in many countries, so personal data may be transferred to and stored in countries other than your own, including the United States.
Where data leaves the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, we rely on an adequacy decision where one exists, and otherwise on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, with the UK Addendum where applicable, together with technical measures appropriate to the transfer. You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards we use.
9. How long we keep it
We keep personal data for as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for, then delete or anonymise it.
Up to 24 months from our last contact, unless a contract follows
For the life of the contract, plus the period required for tax and legal claims
For as long as the associated footage is licensedThese records are the proof that a dataset is cleared, so they outlive the enquiry that created them
Typically 30 to 90 days, longer where an incident is under investigation
10. Security
We protect personal data and footage with encryption in transit and at rest, access control on a need-to-know basis, audited access to sample and delivery systems, separation of participant identity data from footage stores, and vendor review before a processor touches our data.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data and the law requires notification, we will notify you and the relevant supervisory authority within the required timeframe.
11. Your rights
Available to everyone:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you and get a copy
- Have inaccurate data corrected
- Ask us to delete data we no longer need
- Unsubscribe from any email we send: every message carries a link
EEA, UK, and Switzerland. You also have the right to restrict or object to processing based on legitimate interests, the right to data portability, the right to withdraw consent at any time, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. We would ask you to raise it with us first.
California and other US states. You have the right to know what personal information we collect and why, to request deletion or correction, and to be free from discrimination for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of, and we honour Global Privacy Control signals where the law requires it.
How to exercise them. Email contact@daidailabs.com from the address you contacted us on, and tell us what you want done. We reply within 30 days, and will tell you if we need longer. We may ask for enough information to confirm who you are, and an authorised agent may act for you with written proof.
12. Cookies and analytics
This site runs on a small footprint. We use strictly necessary cookies to serve and secure the pages, and privacy-respecting analytics to count visits and see which sections are read. Analytics data is aggregated and is not used to build a profile of you or to follow you across other sites.
We do not run advertising or social tracking pixels. If that changes, we will ask for consent first through a cookie banner and update this section.
13. Children
This is a business site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18, and we do not commission capture involving children. If you believe a child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
We update this policy as the service changes, and the text on this page is always the current one. For material changes we will give notice by email to active clients, or a notice on this site, before the change takes effect.
15. Contact us
Questions about this policy, rights requests, and concerns about how a dataset was collected all go to the same place, and a person reads them.
